On-Site Interpretation

Mill Neck Interpreter Service offers on-site interpreting, where our professional and highly skilled interpreters will come to your location for face-to-face meetings, 365 days a year.

MNIS provides professional and skilled sign language interpreters to facilitate communication between Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Deaf-Blind individuals with the community at large. Serving a diverse clientele, from local companies to major conglomerates, MNIS will find the right fit for your interpreting needs.

MNIS makes it a point to adhere to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to Vocational, Educational, Medical, Legal, Technical and Corporate settings. We also follow the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Code of Professional Conduct, assuring that confidentiality, professionalism and ethical behaviors are maintained at all times.

While MNIS is committed to training new interpreters to go out into the field, we never compromise quality. Before joining MNIS, all interpreters are required to pass a rigorous screening process to ensure competency.

Conference Planning

Conference planners face the challenge of making it possible for all participants to take part in every aspect of the conference. When presented with attendees who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, conference planners may be unfamiliar with what their needs might be. Mill Neck Interpreter Services is here to help you, the conference planner, provide optimum services for all Deaf or Hard of hearing participants or presenters who attend the conference.

Conference needs can include interpreting for people who use American Sign Language, cued speech, tactile or close visual interpreting for Deaf-Blind people, or other people who desire CART services or who may desire assistive listening devices such as FM or infrared loop systems.

We would assist during a pre-conference site visit with the conference planner to address the following concerns:

  • Proper lighting for interpreters
  • Physical location for the interpreters
  • Easy, inconspicuous switching of team interpreters
  • Preview the general content of presentations
  • Serve as liaison for contacting, recruiting and scheduling qualified RID interpreters
  • Serve as liaison for CART service
  • Serve as liaison for assistive listening devices required
